Case Studies

Sky Movie Express

To celebrate the arrival of Sky Movies on demand via Sky Go BSkyB chartered a train to travel from Euston to Birmingham.

Attend2IT where tasked with the provision of a wireless network connected to the internet to power 20 iPads connected to Sky Go servers whilst the train was moving!

Various options where discussed but with a moving train and such a large amount of data we new this was going to be something never under taken before.

The logistics of the event presented an interesting challenge, with minimal platform time available and rigging just the day before at an entirely different location, crew, kit and transport movements where pretty crucial.

Robust kit also had to be selected to withstand the vibration of the carriages as well as one of the hardest cable runs we have ever done through the train.

Servers on a Train!

Using our high spec wireless kit, 3G SIM card concentrators and other (more secret) broadband delivery the journey went without a hitch. We even managed to get some candy from Santa Claus who came along for the ride.

London/ Milan Fashion Week

Now a regular fixture for Attend2IT we provide wireless distribution for our client in both Milan and Hyde Park. With 300 and 500 concurrent connections receptively in marquees; each holding less than twice that number, it is the density of the network that makes these jobs a challenge.

London Fashion Week

Working alongside the other departments, our team installs a centrally controlled wireless network across the site.

Aesthetics are key and we work hard to make our hardware presence as low key as possible. Laptops for social network updates during the event are also given priority to ensure 100% uptime for key communication.

Backhaul is provided via Leased Fixed Wi-Fi and Leased Satellite to ensure the guests get the required bandwidth at all times of the day. Since we install as the crew rig an added bonus is that the crew get a reliable and stable connection during setup and can update any work schedule or amended video content quickly and easily.

Runesfest

RuneFest 2011 was a two day RuneScape fan event, allowing the community to completely immerse themselves in the experience and live RuneScape for a weekend. It was held at Old Billingsgate, a fairly unique venue over four floors with some fairly complex cable runs.

Attend2IT returned for our second year to distribute the in-house leased line to 120 desktop PCs which made up two gaming areas.

The power for the main gaming area was also provided with a 63A 3ph required for the sheer number of high spec PCs.

A free WiFi network with branded landing page was provided to secure the network. Once authenticated users where pushed through to a schedule of the event.

Due to the nature of the event we also provided automatic fail over should the lease line fail the gaming PCs would have stayed online. The networks also had different access rights to stop gaming machines form anything other than gaming and WiFi users from visiting any adult sites.

Heron Tower

Heron Tower is an innovative and environmentally focused workplace at 775ft tall and brand new it offered some interesting challenges to our team. Our client required 3 floors (an office village) and a production office to have a fast and high density network. 450 people where due to arrive and all where expected to use the network.

Heron Tower

Working with the in house fibre and communications team Attend2IT installed a temporary wireless network over four 13,500 sq ft floors finishing at the 27th Floor. This network was monitored by our onsite team and support was offered to any users experiencing difficulty getting online. A captive portal gave Heron Tower a chance to advertise the space, but with the view we had, it must have been difficult to resist.

iGaming Business

iGaming Business has been involved in the iGaming sector for over 8 years. They specialise in publishing and providing high level information to the iGaming sector. Their London Affiliate Conference in Old Billingsgate required a reliable wireless solution for both the delegates and exhibitors. Unfortunately this had not been the case on previous years and Attend2IT where brought in to ensure it was reliable this year. With over 1000 people logging in over the 2 days and the whole building requiring coverage, a bespoke solution was required.

Attend2 deployed 15 wireless access points. These were centrally controlled to constantly monitor the network health to provide the best solution in terms of channel selection and signal strength. Once up and running engineers monitored the network to check for weak spots and identify them before users noticed. A further Access point was deployed during the 1st morning to reduce the strain on a particular AP that delegates seemed to be converging around.

Temporary Wireless Link

A captive portal ensured only registered users got online and provided the client an opportunity to brand the landing page. All authenticated users where dropped into an advertisement page for the next event before being allowed to proceed to the internet.

Absolute AV - Cambridge

The end client had been holding an event in Cambridge every year; and every year the internet had caused head aches, from dropped connections and slow ping times (causing VPN problems) to lines just not getting installed on time.

Servers

Attend2 where called in by Absolute AV to fit a faster and more reliable link, a survey was carried out and at the clients requested a day's testing. The test went by without a hitch until the client ended the test early and turned off the equipment their end. They where surprised to get a call from us seconds later as our equipment had thrown up alarms saying the connection had dropped!

The connection for the week of the event was 8Mb/s Down and 8Mb/s up it was installed on the Saturday with all the other IT equipment and de rigged 7 days later.

The event (supported by Attend2IT for its 3rd Year) has now expanded with Attend2IT providing 26 phones and a small local wired and wireless network for the delegates. The main incomer has also increased to a temporary leased line at 20Mbps.

Islington County Council

Medium Ranage Wifi

Our client required a connection in a building close to their existing property. Using long range fixed Wireless we installed a system for 4 days. The throughput was in excess of 108Mb/s which was "just like being in the office".

The link passed through 2 windows, a massive concrete and metal supporting pillar and a tree. Whilst in open air they can run at 15Km here we had to run them at 1/2 power due to the number of obstacles in its path!

We also provided a small distribution in the temporary office to allow all the staff to connect back to the internet and intranet.

London - Oxford Circus

Our client required a connection in the middle of Oxford Street. Unfortunately at the time it was outside our broadband coverage area. The client did own the building opposite and had a high speed connection. We provided the wireless link across the road and onto the site.

The building was victorian and therefore had metal windows creating a faraday cage effect, residential systems wouldn't have had the range, reliability or speed required for such a link. The throughput was well above the incoming 11Mb/s connection and ping times where not delayed by the link.

Watford

Our client required entire network distribution throughout a 5 star hotel. A high speed line was already present so we where asked to managed its distribution.

Guests where required to logon to a wireless network for internet access only. However a separate private network was required for 'premier users' to gain access to printing, databases and shared files. A total of 50 machines where to be connected to this network. Working with the in house team Attend2 Ltd provided a solution that allowed delegates to quickly logon to the corporate network, retrieve files, print them, sign the document if required and fax it back to the sender.

Two staff where on hand to help clients in the business center as well as problem solve the machines in the various offices created for the 3 day event.
